 The Way of Reiki

I have been teaching Reiki since 2001.

That is over 20 years at this point, and it has been my constant companion as I have raised children, sought education, been a partner and wife, a business owner, mentor, friend, and spiritual seeker. There is a place for Reiki in every single life situation.

As a health care professional and in my nursing career Reiki has proved invaluable to me as a calming technique for myself and my patients. Decreased side effects to medications and treatments for my patients. Calming and peaceful transition during Hospice work. I have actually had other health care professionals come to me saying "I am so glad you are here! Things are so quiet and the patients just seem happier when you are here!" Patients had less accidents and rested peacefully through the night as well.

As a massage therapist Reiki was always with me. Many clients could not put their fingers on why they felt so great after a treatment with me, but I always knew I had an ace in the hole with Reiki as a skill in my professional toolbox.

Reiki is an important go to for first responders, supervisors, teachers, chefs, parents, spouses, ANYONE that is living and breathing on this planet. We are now dealing with more stress than ever before and many of us have not gone untouched by the Covid Pandemic. Reiki gives us a go to for stress relief and calming action for ourselves, but it also makes it easy to support others in person and at a distance as we all learn to maneuver through these uncertain times.

There are very few limitations to this healing system. Anyone can learn Reiki regardless of belief. Everyone can benefit from Reiki regardless of belief, history, ethnicity, or spiritual disposition. This healing system can provide far reaching growth and health that we all need at this moment in our lives.

 The first level of Reiki training includes the basic philosophies and ideals of the Western system of Reiki healing and the principles of it's founder Mikao Usui. This includes:

• 5 Reiki Principles
• Reiki lineage all the way back to Usui Sensei
• Basic Human Anatomy
• Energy Anatomy
• Hand Positions
• Ethics
• Japanese Reiki Techniques (JRT)
• Self care
• Care of others
• Hands on Practice
• Certificate of completion

The second level of Reiki is a deeper leap into healing and it's effects on ourselves and others. It gives you more tools for healing, self care, space clearing, distance healing, symbol use, and more. Level II tends to pleasantly open the minds of students far surpassing their class expectations. This includes:

• Distance/Remote/Proxy Healing
• Reiki symbols, definitions, and uses
• Japanese Reiki Techniques (JRT)
• Esoteric discussion on vibration and its qualities.
• Using Reiki to heal unwanted habits and patterns that interfere with you feeling whole and complete.
• Ethics
• Certificate of completion

 ART is an exciting class to take because it rounds out and reinforces Reiki levels I and II training. This class is a pre-requisite to the Reiki master class. You will have some time to exercise your Reiki muscles and will be ready to absorb any review information but also the deeper understanding of using the distance symbol. I use this class to take you to the heart of the distance symbol and the endless and incredible things you can do with it. This include:

• Usui Master attunement
• Usui Master symbol definition, use, discussion, and how it can enhance level 2 symbols.
• Reiki meditation that strengthens the mind and expands the consciousness.
• Advanced Reiki Techniques for setting and achieving goals and solving problems.
• Reiki Crystal grids and how to use them.
• Psychic surgery technique

No certificate for this level.

Reiki Master Training is where everything that you have learned in the other classes comes together as you increase your understanding of the Reiki System of healing. You will be completely trained to offer Reiki treatments and also be able to offer Reiki Training as a viable income option. This level gives you a lifetime of an ability to support yourself, family, friends, community, and your global community. Through personal reiki practice, healing sessions, and Reiki trainings you are able to become an active extension to your community and become and answer to suffering. You can now offer healing in a grounded, honorable, and positive way. This includes:

• Complete Reiki II/Tibetan Master Attunement
• Instruction and breakdown of the attunement practice and how to pass these attunements to your students.
• Healing attunement training. (This method brings the power of the attunement process to a healing without actually initiating the client into the Reiki system.)
• Two more symbols for a total of 6
• Practice time performing the attunement process
• Advanced Reiki Meditations
• The values, ethics, spiritual orientation of a strong, aligned, and powerful Reiki Master.

Karuna Reiki is a registered trademark.

The meaning of Karuna is compassionate action it is a word used in Sanskrit and Buddhism. Per www.reiki.org website "Karuna is the motivating quality of all enlightened beings who are working to end suffering on Earth. They continually send an unlimited amount of healing energy and guidance to us, but not all are receptive to it. As you develop Karuna in yourself, not only are you helping others, but you also become more receptive to the Karuna that is being sent by all enlightened beings. Thus your healing is quickened as well. Karuna Reiki opens you to work more closely with all enlightened beings. This includes those enlightened ones who are physically present as well as those in Spirit."

Pre-requisite for this training is Reiki Master for at least 6 months. You must be able to draw the Reiki II and Master symbols from memory.

"This is the next step after Reiki master and is a complete healing system with two levels, two attunements, four master symbols, and eight treatment symbols. Most students find Karuna Reiki to be more powerful that Usui Reiki. It provides healing on the emotional and spiritual levels and also can help one become more grounded. Those who receive the attunements report experiences with their guides, angels, and higher self and feel the healing presence of other enlightened beings." (www.Reiki.org)

4 Karuna Level I symbols

1. prepares client for deep healing and is useful with past life issues
2. heals deeply and can be used to break-up the negative patterns we unconsciously use to insulate ourselves from the truth, thus shattering delusion and denial. It heals the shadow self.
3. fills a client with love and restores balance.
4. completes treatment by bringing the client back into the body and grounding."

Karuna Level II symbols help us connect directly to our infinite selves and work at deep levels. Each of the four symbols are defined and discussed in class, however it is through their use and application that your personal guidance and connection with your infinite higher self, the Compassionate Karuna Reiki energy, and the healing essence of your client will increase your intuitive guidance and understanding of these infinite and powerful symbols.

This level has a total of 12 symbols, 8 treatment symbols and 4 Master Symbols.

With completion of this class you will receive a certificate.

This class is broken up into 2 weekends. You will learn Karuna Reiki Level I and II in the first weekend. You may stop here or choose to become a Karuna Reiki Master and go on to teach this class to your clients.

I was really resistant to taking this class so long ago. My Reiki Master Beth nudged me a bit towards it but I really just put on the brakes and really did not believe I would ever delve into this Reiki practice. I ended up in the class anyway. I was resistant to learning more symbols and of moving away from the more traditional Usui Shiki Ryoho style of Reiki that I loved so much.

This class deepened my understanding of symbol use and opened me up to the use of toning during treatments. My clients just got blown away by the power of the Karuna Reiki System and had huge growth and healing by participating in sessions.

I personally don't like to think of Karuna Reiki as being more powerful that the Usui Reiki system. What it is to me is different and it only works if there is a solid foundation of the Usui System of Reiki to build on. It feels more subtle to me. It definitely goes directly to cell and DNA healing which opens the door for ancestral healing, traumatic healing, for some past life healing, this list can go on and on. Most people that I have worked with during a Karuna Reiki treatment seem to leave their bodies not even remembering the treatment at all, but they do have a profound feeling of peace and well being.
